Overview of Admin Roles

IKYAdata includes three administrator roles:

  • Super Admin
  • Data Source Admin
  • Item Alignment Admin

Each role contributes to a different layer of the platform:

  • Platform governance
  • Data source configuration
  • Semantic alignment

A full comparison table is included at the end of this page.

Super Admin

The Super Admin has complete control over the IKYAdata application. This role manages users, workspaces, permissions, configurations, and platform-wide governance.

Key Responsibilities

Workspace Management
  • Create, update, and delete workspaces
  • Import and export workspaces
  • View all items, configurations, and metadata across workspaces
User and Role Management
  • Create users
  • Assign, modify, and remove roles
  • Manage access control policies
  • View user details and resource utilisation
System and Configuration Management
  • Manage application settings
  • Register, update, or delete external libraries and UDFs
  • Configure default stores and system parameters
  • Monitor system activity and execution history
Data Control and Oversight
  • View all data sources and items
  • Access all alignments, classes, predicates, and relationships
  • Download budgets, query results, and reports
  • Kill long-running queries and manage monitoring cycles

The Super Admin has access to all policies required for complete platform oversight.

Data Source Admin

The Data Source Admin manages all data connectivity and metadata within a workspace. This role ensures that the data sources required for alignment and querying are correctly configured and accessible.

Key Responsibilities

Data Source Setup
  • Add new data sources
  • Update or delete existing data source configurations
  • Test database and API connections
  • Manage file-based RDF imports and manual items
Metadata Discovery and Maintenance
  • Refresh metadata
  • Update or delete existing data source configurationsView, search, and filter discovered items
  • Validate and update field configurations
  • Review record counts, alignment status, and field structures
Supporting Alignment and Querying
  • Provide clean, ready-to-align metadata for Alignment Admins
  • Review aligned items, classes, and relationships
  • Submit queries and access query results for validation
  • Export and import workspace-level metadata

The Data Source Admin focuses on the infrastructure required for accurate semantic alignment and unified querying.

Item Alignment Admin

The Item Alignment Admin is responsible for mapping data sources to the semantic reference model. This role ensures that meaning is standardized across all datasets in the workspace.

Key Responsibilities

Reference Model Interaction
  • View classes, predicates, properties, and relationships
  • Review counts, predicate usage, and semantic structures
  • Refresh reference models
Item and Field Alignment
  • Align database tables to semantic classes
  • Map fields to properties
  • Configure identifier fields and URI patterns
  • Validate and check alignment completeness
Relationship and Model Maintenance
  • Add or update semantic relationships
  • Validate and update classes, fields, and predicates
  • Manage proposed reference model changes
Operational Support
  • Submit queries to test alignments
  • Verify record counts and mapped entities
  • Export alignment configurations
  • Review execution histories and workspace-level usage

The Item Alignment Admin ensures that every dataset follows the same semantic meaning, enabling consistent querying and analytics.
