What Users Can Access

A User has read access in the assigned workspace

Data Sources

Users can view:

  • Connected databases and files
  • Discovered items such as tables and fields
  • Alignment status for items and fields
  • Metadata such as record counts and last modified dates

Users cannot add, edit, or delete data sources.

Reference Model

Users can explore:

  • Classes
  • Properties
  • Relationships
  • Identifiers

This helps Users understand the meaning and structure of the aligned data.

Item Alignments

Users can view how each table and field has been mapped to the semantic model.

Users cannot modify alignments or mappings.

What Users Can Do

Run Queries

Users have full access to the Query module. They can:

  • Write SPARQL queries
  • Load saved queries
  • View and filter query history
  • Run queries using Ctrl+Enter
  • Export result sets
  • Review performance profiling when enabled
  • Use full-screen result mode
Save Queries

Users can save their own queries and reopen them whenever needed. Saved queries appear in their list within the workspace.

Use Analytics

Users can use the Analytics module to:

  • Ask natural language questions
  • Receive insights generated by IKYAdata’s query engine
  • Review the SPARQL generated by the AI
  • View multiple result sets and summaries
  • Maintain conversation history for each analytics session
Download Results

Users can export query results or analytics results for reporting and further analysis.

What Users Cannot Do

For clarity and governance, certain actions are restricted:

  • Users cannot add, delete, or configure data sources.
  • Users cannot build or edit the reference model.
  • Users cannot align items or map fields.
  • Users cannot modify workspace settings.
  • Users cannot invite or manage other users.
  • Users cannot delete queries created by others.

Typical Workflow for a User

The Item Alignment Admin is responsible for mapping data sources to the semantic reference model. This role ensures that meaning is standardized across all datasets in the workspace.

  • Enter the workspace from the Workspaces Dashboard.
  • Review the available data sources and their discovered items.
  • Explore the reference model to understand the domain concepts.
  • Use the Query tab to write or load SPARQL queries.
  • Run the query and analyze the results in the results panel.
  • Save the query for future use if needed.
  • Use the Analytics module to ask natural language questions and explore insights.
  • Export results as needed for reporting or analysis.
